A List of Places is a travel guide powered by social media. It was set up by John Ryan and Rod Cuthbert as an experiment in crowd-sourced travel journalism. It’s inspired by the edgy, hilarious honesty of Gustav Flaubert’s classic 1911 Dictionary of Received Ideas—short, funny and truthful descriptions written in a barbed kind of way.
